99.9 The Fan Afternoon Drive Host Adam Gold logs record listenership levels as he celebrates 20 years
Triangle Sports Talk Host Adam Gold will be celebrating a milestone of 20 years in Sports Radio this month. Gold landed in the Triangle twenty years ago and was hired by then 850 The Buzz, the Triangle’s first all-sports radio station to host afternoon drive. Over the years, through various ownership changes and sports talk signal shuffles, Adam has been faithfully serving Triangle sports fans, most recently on 99.9 The Fan with his co-host Joe Ovies, where they’ve partnered since 2010.
Over the years, Gold not only has become the longest tenured sports radio talk show host in the market, but has also been recognized with his co-host Joe Ovies repeatedly as one of Radio Ink’s Top 30 Local Talkers, Talkers “Sports Heavy 100” and has been named the Best Talk Show in the state by the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters in 2015.
Brian Maloney, Capitol Broadcasting’s 99.9 The Fan’s General Manager says, “Adam literally showed up on our doorstep at the radio station one afternoon, we gave him a shot and loved what we heard”.
Maloney added, “Sports Talk and hosts giving their opinions about teams and players was a new concept to the area. Adam has never been shy or afraid to give his honest opinion and that’s one of the reasons he’s been so successful”.
For Wednesday, January 17, 2018, from 3-7p ET during ‘Adam & Joe’, 99.9 The Fan management has invited over 25 special guests that will be in-studio, calling into the show and playing audio messages from some Gold’s favorite guests and friends over his 20 years of sports radio in The Triangle.
99.9 The Fan is part of a very extensive and impressive list of audio platforms for Capitol Broadcasting in the Raleigh-Durham market. This includes Buzz Sports Radio (WDNC-AM), 95.7 The Ticket (WCLY) along with live video streaming of local programs on WRALSportsFan.com, the WRALsportsfan App, Roku, Amazon Firestick and AppleTV on the WRAL-TV 5 #OTT App.
