Free event highlights Opening Week of ticket sales, batting practice on the field
The Durham Bulls will host their 2018 Fan Fest on Saturday, March 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to kick off the 2018 campaign at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The free event provides fans a chance to take batting practice on the field, purchase single-game tickets for the 2018 season and take photos with the team’s 2017 Triple-A National Championship and Governors’ Cup trophies. Additionally, National Anthem auditions will take place prior to Fan Fest from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
In an effort to increase fan safety, two batting practices will be held at the event. All attendees 13 and older wishing to hit on the field will be able to do so from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., and all fans 12 and under wishing to take batting practice may do so from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Fans will not be allowed in the outfield until 12 p.m., at which point catch on the field will commence.
The team’s ticket representatives will be available to showcase available 919 Club member seating locations, and the Frontier Communications Ticket Office will be open as well to provide fans an opportunity to purchase tickets to games such as Opening Day, Star Wars Night, DURM Night and more. 919 Club members in attendance will be able to pick up their membership packages in the third base party decks.
Other events/offers scheduled for Fan Fest include:
- Photo opportunities with the team’s championship trophies
- The Ballpark Corner Store will open at 10 a.m., with select merchandise marked down as much as 50 percent and select fitted caps will be sold for as little as $9.99
- Self-guided clubhouse tours
- Bull Durham Brewery tours
- Any fan who purchases a ticket to a 2018 Bulls game at the event will receive a free hot dog and soda
Fans eager to secure single-game tickets can do so from Monday, Feb. 26 through Friday, March 2 in an online-only sale, and tickets will become available by phone and at the DBAP beginning on March 3.
National Anthem auditions will also take place at the DBAP the morning of March 3 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. for people wishing to perform the Star Spangled Banner at a Bulls game in 2018. Performers who arrive after 9 a.m. will not be permitted to audition.
Participants may enter through the ballpark’s left field gate and register upon arrival to perform on a first-come, first-sing basis. Singers may leave at the completion of their audition and will be contacted at a later date as the Bulls choose those who will perform at limited, select dates during the 2018 season.
Performers will have one minute and 30 seconds to perform the Star Spangled Banner, and lyrics must be memorized and performed in a traditional style.
The Bulls open the 2018 season on April 5 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park against the Charlotte Knights. 919 Club memberships and group outings are available now at durhambulls.com or by calling 919.956.BULL.
