Rocky Mount Mills had the opportunity to host the more than 50 members of the Triangle Chapter Urban Land Institute on campus for a tour and panel discussion, Wednesday April 25, 2018.
“We’re excited to host ULI and to engage its passionate, knowledgeable members in a discussion of what we’re doing to create a premier mixed use destination in Eastern NC and perhaps a model for the potential of such projects in cities similar to Rocky Mount,” says RMM Development Manager Matt Honeycutt.
ULI Triangle Executive Director Julie Paul adds, “Our members were looking forward to a deep dive into the site – past, present and future. Rocky Mount Mills is an especially intriguing project given the themes of building community, incorporating the river and surrounding parks, and the infusion of new people, businesses and ideas.”
ULI Triangle serves eastern half North Carolina, including the Research Triangle area of Raleigh, Durham, Cary and Chapel Hill. The District Council hosts educational programs throughout the year, focusing on North Carolina as well as national issues and trends in the use of land and its relationship to community development.
David Joyner, President of Joyner Media & Strategies Inc, moderated a great panel discussion about Rural and Urban Development featuring: Dan Gerlach, President of Golden LEAF Foundation; John White, Legislative Liaison at North Carolina Department-Commerce; Michael Goodmon Senior Vice President of Capitol Broadcasting and Reuben Blackwell, CEO of the Opportunities Industrialization Center OIC of Rocky Mount and City Councilman for the City of Rocky Mount, NC.
