Ancestry of NecessityHave you seen the latest art on exhibit at American Tobacco?  The Ancestry of Necessity exhibition includes contemporary artworks by local, female artists whose materials can be traced to Durham’s historical relationship with textile and craft.

Artworks presented in Ancestry of Necessity use these materials and methods to produce works of art unbound by function with concentration on concept, form, and color. Artists include Maria Britton, Martha Clippinger, Julia Gartrell, and Celia Gray. The exhibition also includes works from the American Tobacco Collection.

The exhibition is on display in the Reed Art Gallery on the American Tobacco Campus until August 24, 2019.  Ancestry of Necessity is FREE and open to the public.

Thanks to American Tobacco for this capcom scoop & photo.
