WRAL-TV Lead Designer/Print & Online Bill Burch has been given a variety of unique projects over his 23 years at the Big 5.  To help mark one year to the kick-off of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, he again got to see his creative vision in ice.

WRAL-TV unveiled an ice sculpture on the morning news on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, complete with time lapse video to watch the melting process on WRAL.com.

The idea originally came from WRAL-TV Social Media Manager Wendy Gatlin.  After approval, the task to create a design included the NBC logo and Olympic elements and icons was handed to Burch.

Ice Occasions North Carolina brought piece to ice and then installed the sculpture in front of the WRAL-TV fountain with Burch’s guidance on Tuesday.

Thanks to WRAL-TV’s Bill Burch for these capcom photos.
