1,431 Pets Adopted During 2019 Clear the Shelters with WRAL-TV & MIX 101.5

Clear the Shelters 2019
WRAL-TV and MIX 101.5 partnered with the Humane Society of the U.S. and twelve local animal shelters on Saturday, August 17, 2019, for the 5th annual Clear the Shelters initiative. People lined up to adopt pets during the daylong event during which adoption fees were waived at participating shelters.

Capitol Broadcasting Company participated in the annual Clear the Shelters efforts to promote pet adoption for the fifth time on Saturday, August 19, 2019.  As of Monday morning, the reported adoptions totaled 1,431.

Five shelters were completed “cleared” on Saturday including, Johnston County Animal Services, SAFE Haven for Cats, Animal Protection Society of Durham, Franklin County Animal Shelter and Wake County Animal Center.  The Cumberland County Animal Control “cleared” all of their adoptable dogs.

Twelve local animal shelters participated in the 2019 event, waiving adoption fees for the day.

WRAL-TV and MIX 101.5 partnered with the Humane Society of the U.S. with the shelters for the effort, a nationwide NBCUniversal Clear the Shelters initiative.
