“WRAL.com has struck gold with this event. This has become an annual event that so many people look forward to every year.”

WRAL.com’s Voters’ Choice Awards for 2019 struck gold with a celebration to announce the winners at Union Station in downtown Raleigh on Thursday, January 9, 2020. All finalists were invited to the event, and winners were revealed live. A sell out crowd over over 440 people attended.
“The event went great!” said NMG Marketing Director Laura Worthingon. “We had networking, food and drinks and a jazz ensemble before the awards began.”
WRAL-TV Anchor/Reporter Mikaya Thurmond returned as emcee for the WRAL.com Voters’ Choice Awards.
“I’ve been hosting the VCAs for 3 years and I never imagined that the event would one day be this big,” said Thurmond. “Union Station was a phenomenal venue for the event. It was standing room only as the “Best of the Triangle” got their awards. The catering, live music and setting was absolutely perfect.”
She continued, “Returning for 3 years in a row has been such an honor. I have seen so many phenomenal business leaders each year. It’s like a family.”
Winners were announced in 147 categories.
“This was the fifth WRAL.com Voters’ Choice Awards event, and it was by far the biggest and best to date,” said Worthington. “That was made possible by generous sponsors brought on board by our talented sales teams across digital, TV and radio. We also had about 40 CBC employees working in different roles on site, and everyone was willing to help pitch in to make the event go smoothly.”
The CBC team worked together to help celebrate the very best of the Triangle at the event.
“I love celebrating the Voters’ Choice Award Winners,” said Thurmond. “For instance, Maggie Kane of A Place at the Table is our Woman of the Year. With her work feeding those in need, I can’t think of someone more deserving. All of our finalists are ROCKSTARS.”
