The 2021 season is officially underway for the Holly Springs Salamanders. The ‘Manders are happy to be welcoming fans back to Ting Park after missing the 2020 season due to the pandemic. Holly Springs got opening weekend off to a good start with back-to-back wins of the new South Wake Shakes on Saturday and Sunday, May 22 and 23.
“Opening Weekend was incredible!” said HSS General Manager Chip Hutchinson. “The Holly Springs and South Wake communities have always been so supportive of the Salamanders and it showed on both Saturday and Sunday Night. It was great to see Families and Friends out enjoying a sporting event together again!”
The Salamanders came out on top on Opening Night with a 10-5 victory and continuing doubling the Shakes’ score on Sunday with a 6-3 win.
“We had great crowds both nights,” said Hutchinson, “over 1,200 fans on Opening Night. We debuted our new alternate team – South Wake Shakes!”
Now that the Salamanders have gotten warmed up against the Shakes, the team will face the Tri-City Chili Peppers in their Coastal Plain League (CPL) Home Opener this Friday, May 28.
