The first Night Market at American Tobacco took place on the lawn under the Lucky Strike Water Tower on Thursday, August 26, 2021.

The first Durham Night Market at American Tobacco drew a great crowd on Thursday, August 26, 2021.  Almost 50 vendors participated. The night was a “fabulous sip and shop night under the Lucky Strike Water Tower!”

“We had a good first-time turnout despite the high temperatures and COVID variant,” said ATC Events & Property Experience Director Valerie Ward.  “We are already looking to expand the footprint in September and will theme up the December Market as a Holiday Market.”

DBBC Asst General Manager – Operations Scott Strickland stopped by to check out the Durham Night Market.  He told Capcom he attended for multiple reasons.  He wanted to see what the event was like, since he has never attended a night market and to see how many folks came.

DBBC’s Scott Strickland enjoyed taking part in the first Night Market at American Tobacco on Thursday, August 26, 2021.

“I wanted to help support some of the local small businesses who have likely had a very tough 16+ months,” he said.  “As a resident on campus it’s been great to see events starting to come back… Obviously biased with the DBAP, but also the DPAC starting to have shows and ATC bringing events back to campus and utilizing all of the wonderful spaces campus provides… So it’s important to get out there and support these events so they hopefully will continue to increase in frequency!”

Strickland had a good time checking out the event.

“There was a ‘booth for everyone’ and I especially enjoyed the beef and seafood sales booth and the gentleman who makes carving boards, bottle openers, American flag art, etc.!” he said.
