Heather Gray has been promoted from Brand Director to Station Manager for WRAL-TV and FOX 50. The announcement came in mid-January 2022.
Gray joined WRAL in October 2017 as the Creative Services Director and has continued to take on new roles within Capitol Broadcasting Company. In September 2018, Gray was promoted to Brand Director of WRAL-TV and WRAZ/FOX50. Then in June 2020, she added the title of Station Manager for WILM-TV to her Brand Director role.
The Station Manager position was left vacant while WRAL transitioned to a new Vice President and General Manager of the station in 2018. In the years since, Gray has grown into an even stronger leader in her role, taking charge of many key developments for WRAL-TV, FOX50, and WILM-TV.
“Heather has led the way on many major projects including WRAL News set redesign, WRAL Nights of Lights, WRAL’s Winter Wonderland, and leading our graphic changeover, all while keeping our marketing efforts focused,” said Joel Davis, Vice President and General Manager of WRAL/FOX 50. “Heather brings a strong voice to efforts by other departments to make WRAL and FOX50 more successful. She’s smart, curious, and insightful, which embody the qualities needed to manage a competitive station. We’re very pleased she’s continuing her growth here at Capitol Broadcasting Company!”
A member of the Capitol Women’s Network Advisory Team, Gray contributes to numerous other efforts across the company.
Gray originally joined WRAL-TV from KPNX in Phoenix, AZ as the Director of Programming and Marketing, where she was also marked for growth as part of that company’s executive leadership program. Gray is now continuing that upward growth in Raleigh.
Gray is a graduate of California State University, Chico. She and her husband have two children. Her son, Tyler, is completing high school in the Wake County area, and her daughter, Britnee, attends NC State University. One of her favorite hobbies since moving to North Carolina is exploring all the National Parks and Forests the state has to offer. The company is ecstatic to see the growth Gray will bring across WRAL-TV and WRAZ/FOX50 as the new Station Manager!
