The Nashville/Midsouth Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences streamed the awards presentation for the 36th Annual Midsouth Regional Emmys via livestream on Saturday, February 26, 2022, and WRAL-TV received 7 of the top honors.
The winners were chosen from among 900 entries in 73 categories. WRAL-TV Anchors Debra Morgan and Ken Smith served as presenters for several of the awards.
WRAL-TV Visual Design Director Shan Zhong won the Graphic Arts Emmy for the third time in a row and brought home three other trophies as well this year.
“I always believe that audio is half of the game in video promotion,” Zhong said in his virtual acceptance speech for the Audio Emmy. “I spent a lot of time on sound design with my video and motion graphics projects.”
And then of the Promotion Campaign Emmy, he said, “I spent almost a month to create 3D models for this promo.”
His intensive work paid off.
