The Carpool Casanova, WRAL-FM’s Bryan Lord, opened Season 3 of his MIX morning school drop-off karaoke on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Lake Myra Elementary School in Wendell.
“Season 3 of The Carpool Casanova IS HERE!” Lord told CapCom. “New suit. New songs. Refreshed creative energy! And with our show, you know we have a few surprises cooked up for the new season. I won’t reveal what those are. But what I can say is none of them involve bees.”
With that final comment, Lord paid a nod to his most recent stunt, seeing how long he could survive a hive of bees (fully covered in a safety suit, of course) so a listener could win Beyonce tickets. He is thankful for the return to the fun and insect-less carpool line.
“You remember last season’s finale we crowned the ‘most spirited school’ (Sycamore Creek Elementary), who received the Pink Plaque™, an ice cream party, and a GIANT check,” he said. “Now that a ‘prize’ is established, we expect schools to show out!”
The first school of the new season set the bar high, throwing down the gauntlet for their quest for the Pink Plaque™.
“Case and point, our Season 3 premiere at Lake Myra Elementary was huge,” said Lord. “Students, staff, ‘Swimmy’ the otter, even the crossing guard were decked out in pink. I performed in front of a huge backdrop covered in pictures that the students drew of the Carpool Casanova. And the energy was INSANE.”
He got a fun report from one of his MIX Mornings co-hosts, Kyle Smelser.
“Kyle’s wife, Sarah, told me she heard kids singing ‘I’m Still Standing’ from Wendell Falls, a quarter-mile away,” said Lord. “That’s how you set the stage for Season 3!”
Thanks to WRAL-FM for these CapCom photos.
