Is your non-profit group looking for a new way to raise funds? Consider volunteering with the Durham Bulls. Volunteering at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park is a great way for non-profits to raise money and awareness of their organization, and to be a part of this exciting Durham institution!
Nonprofits are paid a percentage of sales per locations they staff and also receive tips.
In 2023, Bull City Hospitality paid out over $100,000 to local nonprofits participating in this program.
“Overall, this is a great opportunity for local organizations to fundraise at low cost with very high returns,” said Bull City Hospitality Concessions Manager Andrew Houston. “It is a fun, team-oriented activity for your organization to take part in.”
What all does the program entail?
- Organization must have Nonprofit status
- Minimum commitment of 4 members for 10 games during the season running April-September
- All participants must be 18 or older
New for 2024 are incentive bonuses for working more games and committing more members of the organization to work.
Groups that have volunteered at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in the past include: high school sports boosters, church groups, fraternities and sororities, and many other groups. Any organization that is non-profit is welcome to apply!
Previous nonprofits have shared their kudos about their experience at the DBAP.
One told the Bulls, “Through your partnership, we have been able to provide 44 children with full scholarships to our wellness retreat and 3 children with scholarships to our first STEM Day Camp…These experiences have given these children the opportunity to learn and grow in a safe and supportive environment.”
Another said, “Since our work at the Durham Bulls games serves as the largest fundraiser, we rely on the commission payment from the Bulls to fund many charitable programs in Raleigh and Durham. We are hoping for another great year of partnering with the Durham Bulls and Bull City Hospitality.”
The concessions program is a win-win. The more nonprofits who volunteer, the greater the community impacts and the better the Bulls’ gameday operation runs. The Bulls hope to have a number of nonprofits participate this season.
“We’re off to a great start in 2024 and want to keep momentum rolling,” said Houston.
