Beginning Monday, January 26th, WRAL-TV & WRAL-FM will shuffle their morning line-up. WRAL-TV Anchor Lynda Loveland (right) will join Bill Jordan on MIX’s morning show. WRAL-TV Anchor Kelcey Carlson (left) will take over Loveland’s post on WRAL’s Morning News, and WRAL-TV Anchor Valonda Calloway will shift to take Loveland’s spot on WRAL’s Noon News. |
“This is a win-win-win for our viewers and MIX 101.5’s listeners,” says WRAL-TV Vice President and General Manager Steven D. Hammel. “Lynda wanted to make the move to radio to accommodate her family. This way, she stays in the WRAL family which makes everyone happy.”
Loveland says, “I’m thrilled for the opportunity to pursue my interest in radio and still be a part of the Capitol Broadcasting team. I’ve had some of the best years of my life at WRAL-TV. I will thoroughly miss my morning TV family. We’ve become very close. Now, I look forward to expanding my family over at Mix 101.5 and joining Bill, Vanna and Wayne in the morning.”
Ardie Gregory, Vice President and General Manager of MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM says, “Lynda brings a treasure trove of qualities to the morning show; she has a wonderful sense of humor and her core values are aligned with those of our target listener. The market knows her well from her success on WRAL-TV.”
WRAL-TV weekend anchor/reporter Kelcey Carlson joins Bill Leslie, Elizabeth Gardner and Brian Shrader on WRAL’s Morning News.
“Lynda’s desire to move to radio gave us the opportunity to shift Kelcey into a position for which she’s well-prepared,” says WRAL-TV News Director Rick Gall. “Kelcey worked as a morning anchor before coming to WRAL, and she’s done a terrific job anchoring on the weekends here. She brings a blend of credibility and personality that will stand out in our morning news.”
Carlson will anchor the Morning News 5:00-7:00 on WRAL-TV and 7:00-9:00 on Fox50. She will continue her award winning investigative reporting.
“I love the mornings, because I’m someone who hits the ground running,” Carlson says. “I’m delighted to join the morning team I’ve been watching since I moved to Raleigh five years ago and I’m really looking forward to continuing to report the issues that are important to our community.”
Fourteen year broadcast veteran Valonda Calloway moves to WRAL’s top ranked Noon News, co-anchoring with Bill Leslie and Elizabeth Gardner. News Director Gall says, “We’re pleased to bring Valonda’s familiarity and experience to the Noon News. This move also allows us to expand Valonda’s significant reporting assignments, including Project Education features like “Teacher of the Week.”
