Bulls Award Scholarships to Post 50 Students

Eight Explorer Post 50 students recently received a total of $6,000 in scholarships from the Durham Bulls. The presentation took place before the game on Sunday, August 24, 2008.
Explorer Post 50 is a youth-based television broadcasting program that provides students, ages 14-20, with a unique and invaluable opportunity to gain exceptional experience in the field of television broadcasting. This program is supported and sponsored by the Durham Bulls, Fox 50 and Capitol Broadcasting Company.

Their Mission: Explorer Post 50 is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of youth by providing personal growth through education, hands-on training, and career development opportunities within the communication industry. Capitol Broadcasting Company is dedicated to assisting members of Post 50 in achieving their potential, increasing their self-confidence, and developing interpersonal communication skills, while becoming socially responsible and caring community leaders.
Now in their 10th season of broadcasting, Post 50 provides the live broadcast of the Durham Bulls and USA Baseball games on FOX 50’s RTN station, MiLB.com as well as within the ball park. They also provide highlights for FOX 50 and WRAL newscasts.
The 2008 scholarship recipients are:
Eric Bircher – This is Eric’s first season with the Post. He is a graduate of Riverside High School and is attending Alamance Community College this Fall studying Criminal Justice.
Tiffany Dyer – This is Tiffany’s third season with the Post. She is a graduate of Cedar Ridge High School and currently attending Alamance Community College studying Art.
Lawrence Ellison – This is Lawrence’s fourth season with the Post. He is a graduate of Jordan High School and is attending North Carolina A&T State University this Fall studying Graphic Design.

Devin Forbes – This is Devin’s first season with the Post. He is a graduate of Chapel Hill High School and is attending North Carolina School of the Arts this Fall where he will be studying Filmmaking.
Logan Green – This is Logan’s second season with the Post. He is a graduate of Northern High School and is attending Brigham Young University-Idaho this Fall studying Communications/Broadcasting.
Kristi Jacobsen – This is Kristi’s second season with the Post. She is a graduate of Cary Christian School and is attending Elon University this Fall studying Communications.
Charles “Chase” McKinney – This is Chase’s third season with the Post. He is a graduate of Northern High School and is attending North Carolina State University this Fall and studying Engineering with hopes to minor in Broadcasting.
Catherine Mitchell – This is Catherine’s second season with the Post. She is a graduate of Cary Christian School and is attending UNC-Wilmington this Fall studying Communications.
