Music lovers are invited to join WRAL-TV and the North Carolina Symphony for an evening of live entertainment and fun for the whole family! WRAL’s 29th Annual Pops in the Park will be held at Cary’s Booth Amphitheatre, Sunday, August 31 at 7pm. Gates open at 4:30pm for this free event.
This year’s guest artist is Legends of Beach, a beach music group featuring five former members of The Embers. As always, the concert ends with Tchaikovsky’s stirring 1812 Overture, complete with fireworks launched over Symphony Lake in Regency Park. WRAL News anchor Valonda Calloway hosts the concert.
Patrons who arrive early can pick a prime spot from which to watch the concert, and also enjoy some bonus entertainment and activities. WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner will host the afternoon entertainment starting at 5pm, which includes an excerpt from Wake County High Schools’ “A Chorus Line” production. In addition, United Arts of Wake County will turn the sidewalks into art! Chalk pastels will be available for people of all ages to create an art display for all to enjoy, along with family games and prizes.

Concert-goers are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and a picnic. Food will also be available at the Amphitheatre, as for all events. Pets are not allowed.
