The American Tobacco Campus has a new look online. Touting “American Tobacco IS Downtown Durham’s Entertainment District!” the site re-launched in January 2008.
“We wanted a site that will meet the needs of our tenants and customers, and after much blood, sweat and tears, we got our site” said American Tobacco Vice President & General Manager Paul Pope. “We are showcasing America Tobacco and all of its many dimensions. Thanks to our team that put it all together!”
The team included ShoeString Creative Group Project Manager Cindy Sink and ATC Sales, Marketing & Events Manager Valerie Ward who organized the site and wrote the content. John Francis-Polakovic designed the look for the site, creating consistency in color palette, type styles and other graphic elements. CBC Corporate Communications Specialist Ed Williams and Don Harper of Orbit Design Works programmed the site.
“The web site was the foundation piece in creating a brand for American Tobacco that positions the District as Downtown Durham’s Entertainment District. We want to be known as a top-quality destination for fun things to do AND as the Triangle’s premier address for creative, forward- thinking businesses.” – Cindy Sink, ShoeString Creative Group

“A major goal was to position American Tobacco as a destination for entertainment, a place where people could eat and gather to participate in all kinds of fun activities,” said Sink. “Between the Durham Bulls, the new Performing Arts Center and AT’s own concerts, exhibits and restaurants, American Tobacco IS Downtown Durham’s Entertainment District. The web site needed to reflect the beauty of the area and invite people to visit and participate in a variety of entertainment venues.”
The site includes information about ongoing events and exhibits, as well a list of the restaurants on campus, a detailed history of American Tobacco, and more. “Durham Bulls Baseball, a new Durham Performing Arts Center, Music On the Lawn outdoor concerts, art exhibits, restaurants—you won’t find a finer collection of entertainment venues in Durham!” announces the site.

According to Sink, a second goal of the site was to provide leasing information, to make sure business and real estate executives could see how unique and inviting American Tobacco is for locating a business… a great place for employees to live, work and play.
Ward said the site has already increased her calls regarding Bay 7, American Tobacco’s premier rental site for wedding receptions, corporate meetings, holiday parties & fundraisers.
