CBC’s John Greene To Be Inducted into
Journalism Hall of Fame

CBC will soon have another member of the N.C. Journalism Hall of Fame. CBC Vice President of Special Projects John Greene will be inducted on Sunday, April 1, 2007, along with two other individuals.
Greene has served Capitol Broadcasting Company for over three decades. He earned a degree in journalism from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1966 and remains a proud Tarheel fan today. He paid his way through school working in radio and news and started his post-college career as a reporter for WBTV in Charlotte. He worked his way up the ladder at Jefferson-Pilot Broadcasting, WBTV’s owner, and then joined CBC in 1976, becoming WRAL-TV’s station manager.
Greene moved on to serve as Vice President and General Manager for WRAL-TV and later as Senior Vice President. He retired in 1990 but came back in 1994 as a Vice President of Special Projects. He is still integral to many CBC broadcasting groundbreaking forays with digital television, legislation and much more today.
The N.C. Journalism Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have made outstanding, career-long contributions to their field. Honorees must be native North Carolinians or those born elsewhere who have become distinctly identified with the state. The N.C. Association of Broadcasters manages the journalism hall of fame.
Greene joins CBC President & CEO Jim Goodmon in the N.C. Journalism Hall of Fame. Goodmon received induction in 2003. The journalism hall of fame was founded in 1970 and with the new induction includes 114 members. Greene will be inducted alongside the late Joseph Bryan, television visionary; and Ken Lowe, president & CEO of E.W. Scripps Co.
On the same evening, new members will be inducted into the N.C. Advertising and Public Relations halls of fame as well.
