ARCHITEKTUR PA wins South Atlantic Regional Design Award for CBC Transmitter

Thomas Crowder AIA, President of ARCHITEKTUR PA, was presented with a South Atlantic Regional Merit Award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for the Capitol Broadcasting Company’s Auburn HD Transmitter facility. The award was given at the annual AIA conference in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Friday, October 6, 2006.
The Auburn HD Transmitter facility houses HD Transmitters for five of the six area broadcast TV stations. The facility design previously won a Triangle Chapter of the AIA Honor Award, North Carolina AIA Honor Award, and the Triangle Business Journal’s Edge Award for Environmental Sensitivity.

This is Crowder’s second South Atlantic Regional award for a transmitter facility. The first was Capitol Broadcasting Company’s analog facility – housing transmitters for WRAL-FM, WPTF-FM, WRDC-TV, and WQDR-FM – which is also located in Auburn. ARCHITEKTUR PA has received five additional awards in the past five years for other commercial and residential projects.
