Three don’t speak for the team

Three of my teammates recently created a stir with their negative comments to USA TODAY about playing for the Durham Bulls (” Road to majors hits delays,” Cover story, Sports, July 28). It is unfortunate that USA TODAY’s reporter didn’t take the time to talk with some of the other Bulls who proudly play for this team. He would have left with a much different impression.
Having played for 14 different teams since my professional career began in 1994, I can say without question that the Durham Bulls management is extremely professional and the ballpark we play in is second to none. Our dream is to play in the major leagues, and the front office respects that. Still, we’re accessible to fans, and we appreciate their loyalty.
It’s not a fluke that the Bulls continually rank as one of the top draws in sports.
The facility is kept in outstanding shape and the clubhouse staff works very hard to ensure that players continue to spread the good word about Durham. Whether you’re a rookie coming to AAA for the first time or a veteran of the minor leagues, you’ll be well cared for in Durham.
Anyone fortunate enough to have spent time with the Durham Bulls already knows what I know. This is a baseball town with outstanding fans, a top-notch stadium and a professional management team. I hope USA TODAY readers know that now, too.
