The Mascot Hall of Fame recently announced Durham Bulls mascot Wool E. Bull has been placed on the ballot for the 2006 Mascot Hall of Fame. Wool E. is one of six professional mascots on the ballot and the only one from Minor League Baseball.
“We are honored to have Wool E. Bull nominated for the Hall of Fame,” Durham Bulls General Manager Mike Birling said, “It’s great that the vote is for the fans because I know our fans will get behind Wool E. Bull’s nomination.”
The Mascot Hall of Fame opened in 2005 with the induction of three characters:
- the Philly Phanatic,
- The Famous Chicken and
- the Phoenix Suns Gorilla.
The Hall of Fame was created to recognize the art and skill of great characters. Their performances have entertained kids and adults alike for generations and have inspired their teams and communities. Each year mascot characters will be inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame during a celebratory event. The Hall of Fame is a national web attraction – www.mascothalloffame.com — with talks currently underway for a permanent Mascot Hall of Fame venue.
