Edgecombe County Featured in Latest WRAListens
|
Tarboro’s The Daily Southerner has featured several articles about the WRAListens taping in Edgecombe County. |
WRAL-TV continued its tour of North Carolina counties in the station’s viewing area by visiting Edgecombe County in late June. Staff and crew members gathered six of the counties residents to discuss issues important to the area for the latest edition of WRAListens. The half-hour special WRAListens Edgecombe County will air on WRAL-TV on Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at 7:30pm.
WRAL-TV legend and former anchor Charlie Gaddy facilitated the panel, discussing issues such as unemployment, need for jobs, economic development, growth and education. Panelists included Terry Smith, editor of The Daily Southerner; Joe Pitt, long-time Tarboro resident and board chair of the Tarboro Area Development Corporation; Dr. Debra Lamm, president of Edgecombe County Community College; Doris Stith, executive director of Community Enrichment Organization; Bill Negron, ESL teacher; and Tom Porter, local farmer & president of the Farm Bureau.
The taping took place at the Blount-Bridgers House Museum in Tarboro, and with a lunch discussion beforehand at On the Square Restaurant.
The Daily Southerner covered the taping, publishing one article and two editorials about the taping and the discussion that ensued. For the full text of these pieces, see the PDF files below.
