NCNN & WRAL-TV Dominate the ENAC Awards |
Both the North Carolina News Network (NCNN) and WRAL-TV came out winners in the 2003 Television and Radio Awards given by the Electronic News Association of the Carolinas. The awards were presented at a luncheon on Saturday, June 21, 2003 at the ENAC convention in Charlotte. WRAL-TV News Director and recent ENAC President John Harris attended the event on behalf of the company.
NCNN received the following awards:
- Special Report: 1st place for coverage of last summer’s drought
- Best Sportscaster: Bruce Ferrell
- Public Affairs: 2nd Place for “When Religion Becomes Evil” by Bruce Ferrell
- Sports: 1st Place for Winston Cup Today by Steve Shumake
- Sports Special: 1st Place for “NC High School Football Scoreboard” by Eddie Thomas
WRAL-TV received these awards:
- Spot News: 1st Place for “The Chase”
- Special Report: 2nd Place for “The Chase”
- Public Affairs: 2nd Place for “Stormtrack 2002”
- Sports: 1st Place for “Chess With Jason Williams” by Bob Holliday
- Sports Special: 1st Place for “Storm Surge”
- Documentary: 1st Place for “Will to Live”
- Investigative: 1st Place for “Justice on Hold” by Cullen Browder
- Consumer/Economic: 1st Place for “Arsenic Wood”
- Political General: 1st Place for “Phipps Trouble”
- North Carolina Television Reporter of the Year: 2nd Place, Cullen Browder
