WRAL-FM/MIX 101.5 will hold its annual Radiothon for Duke Children’s Hospital in September this year, but they have already kicked off a special fundraiser for the event. On Tuesday, April 22, 2003, several MIX staffers gathered with Pinkus Construction and the town of Holly Springs to break ground on the second “Miracle House.”
For the 2002 Radiothon, Bill Pinkus, owner of Pinkus Construction, volunteered to build a house, sell it, and donate all the profits to Duke Children’s Hospital. Several sub-contractors in the area jumped in to donate materials and the first “Miracle House” raised $110,000 for the Radiothon.
Pinkus has stepped up to the plate again, building a second “Miracle House” in Holly Springs to benefit the kids at Duke. He met with Holly Springs Mayor Dick Sears and Co-host of MIX’s Bill & Sheri in the Morning Bill Jordan for a groundbreaking ceremony at noon on April 22.
The Miracle House is being constructed in the Sunset Ridge Subdivision in Holly Springs. Pinkus plans to have the house completed and hopefully sold in time for this year’s Radiothon, slated for September 4th – 7th.
MIX listeners can follow the progress of the house online via the WRAL-FM website. Bill & Sheri will interview Pinkus on the air to chart the development as well.
