Boy Scouts Present Wilkinson With Honorary Campership |
WRAL-TV Reporter Dan Wilkinson |
The Occoneechee Council of the Boy Scouts of America recently honored WRAL-TV Reporter Dan Wilkinson with a Campership in his name. This award will allow a disadvantaged area youth to attend summer camp in 2003 in Wilkinson’s honor.
The organization presented the Campership to Wilkinson on Saturday, January 25, 2003, for his sixth year of serving as the Master of Ceremoney for the Annual Eagle Scout Recognition Supper. The event took place at the North Raleigh Hilton.
Wilkinson has served as the Chairman of the Council National Eagle Scout Association and as emcee of the Eagle Recognition Supper since its inception. He received his Eagle Scout in 1973, and was also a member of Explorer Post 5. CBC President & CEO Jim Goodmon co-founded Explorer Post 5 in 1975 at WRAL-TV, a post that is now the oldest continuous post in the country.
Wilkinson has been involved with the Scouting movement since 1968. He has attended two National Jamborees and one World jamboree in Norway.
