WRAL-TV to Cover & Sponsor MLK Day Events |
WRAL-TV will be providing live coverage of several local events celebrating the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday over the weekend and holiday Monday. Both the WRAL Newschannel and wral.com will participate in bringing these events to Triangle viewers.
The “Eulogy for a Dream” concert on Sunday, January 19, 2003, will air live on the WRAL Newschannel and will stream live on wral.com beginning at 7:30pm. The Raleigh-based Martin Luther King Jr. All-Children’s Choir will perform in concert with the Triangle Youth Philharmonic Orchestra in a celebration of soul, gospel and classical music.The performance will feature William Henry Curry’s “Eulogy for A Dream,” written as a tribute to King.
The WRAL Newschannel will also air the Martin Luther King Jr. Interfaith Prayer Breakfast live from the Sheraton Imperial beginning at 8:00am on Monday, January 20. The program for the breakfast includes remarks from NC Governor Mike Easley, Senator John Edwards, all area mayors and Capitol Broadcasting Company’s Paul Pope.
WRAL-TV Anchors Pam Saulsby and David Crabtree will emcee the youth concert at the BTI Performing Arts Center on Sunday. CBC and WRAL-TV are major sponsors of each event and the Durham Bulls and A.J. Fletcher Foundation are also sponsoring the concert.
