Hotlines Upgrades With Microspace’s VELOCITY
Hotlines, a leading provider of communications networks to the U.S. auto salvage market recently entered into a new satellite broadcasting agreement with Microspace Communications. A long-time client of the Capitol Broadcasting satellite provider, Hotlines will now take advantage of Microspace’s VELOCITY MPEG/DVB service. Hotlines will use VELOCITY to upgrade its daily data delivery requirement to hundreds of nationwide auto salvage facilities.
“Microspace’s VELOCITY platform was the natural choice for our network upgrade,” said Mike Vande-Vort, President of Hotlines. “Their VELOCITY technology enabled us to benefit from the many advantages of IP-based distribution. Their satellite technology is also scalable to meet our future growth requirements.”
Microspace Vice President & General Manager Joe Amor agreed, “Our VELOCITY service is an ideal solution for applications such as Hotlines’ that require reliability and scalability coupled with an economical cost model.”
UTAN Signs On With Microspace
United Tribes of Africa News Television (UTAN) has also signed on with Microspace. The CBC subsidiary has been selected to provide satellite broadcasting for UTAN’s new video network. UTAN News Television plans to broadcast original news programming highlighting the rich heritage, culture and pride of the African nations and their people.
“Our inaugural broadcast of news will mark the first time that a television station devoted exclusively to the African people and culture will be aired,” said Wilfred Warrick, VP of UTAN Global Sales & Marketing. “UTAN will serve as the only true window to the African world and fills a news void in the broadcast marketplace.”
The importance of this mission made selecting a satellite broadcaster a critical decision. Warrick explained, “[Microspace’s] experience and reputation in the satellite broadcasting arena was a key factor in selecting their service.” UTAN will provide a variety of news, entertainment and sports programming from the 52 black African nations, and will broadcast to more than 70 countries in Africa, Western Europe and North America.
Microspace’s VELOCITY service will provide high bandwidth digital connectivity with inexpensive electronics and small diameter receive antennas for UTAN.
