Jim Goodmon received the Distinguished Leader of the Year from the 2000 class of Leadership Raleigh on Wednesday, June 14. The presentation took place at a dinner at the Bishop’s House on the campus of St. Mary’s High School.
Leadership Raleigh program participants nominated individuals for the award and then voted to select Goodmon as the recipient. The award was established “to raise the level of awareness among participants in the program of area leaders who are making contributions to our community.” This is the third year the award has been given. Previous winners were Mayor Tom Fetzer and Senator Eric Reeves.
Leadership Raleigh is an educational group run by the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. Area individuals apply for the program in June, and 40 to 45 are selected each year. The participants attend eight one-day courses and two weekend retreats throughout the
