CBC Receives Award for Company Culture
On Wednesday, October 20, the Triangle Business Journal awarded Capitol Broadcasting Company with an award for Large Companies in the Culture category. This is the first year of the awards intended to honor those companies who create a workplace where employees are treated with dignity and respect and are valued for their contributions. The Triangle Business Journal hopes this will become an annual highlight in the community. Govenor James B. Hunt presented the awards to representatives from a distinguished group of companies.
CBC is proud to be one of the first recipients of this award, and was selected because of the attractive benefits package, a flexible work place allowing employees to participate in shool related activities, and because it encourages employees to get involved in our community by volunteering, joining organizations and serving on civic boards. Also mentioned were the seasonal gifts to Raleigh/Durham area employees, which include an Easter Lily in March, a Mother’s Day Carnation in May, a Thanksgiving turkey in November, and a pointsettia in December.
The Award, whose motto was, Do unto others as they would like done unto them, was divided into five categories: Culture, Family Friendly, Incentives, People Development, and Work Environment. A winner was selected in each category based on size. Nine prominent business and civic leaders reviewed all the entries and made the final award decisions.
