When you turn on your radio each weekday morning in the Triangle, you know you’re going to hear Mike Chase on MIX 101.5. But did you know if you turn on your television sets on Thursday nights, you’ll see him? Chase is now appearing in the fourth season of Carrie Brownstein & Fred Armisen’s series “Portlandia.”
The new season premiered last Thursday, February 27, 2014, on IFC.
“I got involved first season when they asked me to audition based on some other stuff I had done in Oregon,” said Chase. “I got that part and several others through the years and they have always just asked me back.”
Chase has now become a regular guest on various episodes.
“At this point, they just sort leave a part or two for me each season because they like me and they also like continuity season to season,” he said. “I am in a little ‘Four Season Veteran Club’ with a couple other actors.”
During premiere week Chase traveled to Atlanta to shoot a promo for the show and zillow.com.
“They had to make Atlanta look like Portland, which they did with green screen and a neighborhood that looks architecturally similar to NE Portland,” he explained. “It will be running a lot on IFC.”
The fourth season of “Portlandia” is now showing on Thursdays at 10/9c on IFC.
“The show is airing its second episode of season four this Thursday night and you will see me in that episode playing a realtor in a couple of sketches,” said Chase. “I am not sure who is guest starring this week, but a lot of fun people show up every week. It could be anyone from Steve Buscemi in this season’s ‘The Celery Incident’ to Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam.”
A jack-of-all-entertainment-trades, Chase enjoys the chance to get out from behind the microphone and in front of the camera for the IFC show.
“It has been a lot of fun and I truly believe Fred and Carrie may be two of the nicest (and funniest) people I have gotten to work with,” said Chase. “I look as forward to seeing them as I am sure they do to seeing me!”
