Due to the increased chance of heavy rain on Saturday, October 3rd, the FOX 50 Family Fest has been cancelled. But you can still support the Ronald McDonald Houses of Raleigh and Durham!
The FOX 50 Family Fest and Great American Duck Race returns to the American Tobacco Campus in Durham on Saturday, October 3rd from Noon until 5:00pm. The rain-or-shine family event is free and open to the public.
This year’s theme is children’s health and FOX 50 has selected the Ronald McDonald Houses of Durham and Raleigh as our non-profit partner.
“For years, the Ronald McDonald House has devoted itself to being there for families when they need it most,” said FOX 50/WRAL-TV Vice President and General Manager Steven D. Hammel. “We’re excited to have them be a part of our on-going tradition of celebrating families in our area.”
Between now and October 3rd, when you buy a duck for $10 to race in the Great American Duck Race, your purchase pays for a night’s stay for a family with a seriously ill child at Ronald McDonald Houses in Durham and Raleigh. Ducks can be purchased online at FOX50.com or in-store at Frontier Communications in Northgate Mall (Durham), all area locations of Johnson Automotive, and at the Ronald McDonald House of Durham. The top finishers in the Great American Tobacco Duck Race will win amazing prizes that include: an autographed Carolina Hurricanes Jersey, Duke Men’s Basketball tickets, restaurant gift certificates, movie passes, and a night in a private suite at a Durham Bulls game!
Among the free events at this year’s FOX 50 Family Fest are a live animal showcase, appearances by Wool E. Bull, The Ice Queen and Snow Princess, the World Champion Bouncing Bulldogs, as well as face painting, field games, YMCA sports, and a baby crawling contest.
The FOX 50 Family Fest and Great American Duck Race is made possible by our presenting sponsors Chiesi, Frontier Communications and Johnson Automotive.
“The future of our world pivots on what we do for our children,” says Ken McBean, President and Chief Executive Officer of Chiesi USA. “Part of our global mission as a company is to enhance care for the youngest of patients. When we help an organization in our own community that supports and comforts their parents as well, we’re truly living this mission.”
“Frontier Communications is humbled by the opportunity to support such a worthy organization. The Ronald McDonald house is there for families in their darkest hour allowing their focus and energy to be on their sick child instead of where they are going to lay their heads at night. The FOX 50 Family Fest and Great American Tobacco Duck race give the community a chance to have a great day of family fun and support a great cause,” said Dennis Bloss, Vice President and General Manager of Frontier Communications.
“Johnson Automotive is honored to be a part of this campaign,” says Sunny Johnson, “I’ve worked with Oie Osterkamp, the Executive Director of the Ronald McDonald House of Durham, and the folks at Ronald McDonald Houses in Durham and Raleigh for many years, and I love the support that they give families with sick children.”
