With Only Eight Home Games Remaining Bulls Welcome Gold Medalist, Host Two Fireworks Shows at DBAP
With only eight regular season home games remaining, the Durham Bulls return to Durham Bulls Athletic Park for a jam-packed six-game homestand on Friday, Aug. 26 against the Gwinnett Braves and Columbus Clippers. Two fireworks shows, an appearance by Olympic gold medalist Ryan Held and a Trucks, Beats & Brews event highlight the promotional schedule.
Durham opens its homestand with the first game of a three-game series against the Gwinnett Braves on Friday, Aug. 26. That night’s 7:05 p.m. contest is presented by Hillandale Golf Course, and the season’s final Friday Night Fireworks show presented by bioMerieux follows the contest.
On Saturday, Aug. 27 the Bulls square off against the Atlanta Braves’ Triple-A affiliate at 6:35 p.m., presented by BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina. A fireworks show, presented by JT’s Landscaping, proceeds the game’s ending for the final fireworks extravaganza at the DBAP in 2016.
Real Estate by Design presents the finale of the three-game set, taking place at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28. That night’s game is Building with the Bulls Night, when the organization pays tribute to LEGO® as fans can play at interactive stations and view professionally-sculpted Bulls-themed builds. After the game Kids Run the Bases presented by Nature’s Twist, as children get to show off their speed rounding the DBAP bases.
After Sunday’s game only five regular season home games will be played at the DBAP in 2016, and fans can purchase the Final Five Pack, which entitles buyers to five Terrace View tickets, five hot dogs and five sodas for just $55. The Final Five Pack is available for any of the season’s final five contests, and the pack can be purchased here by using the promo code FINAL5, or by mentioning the Final Five Pack in-person at the Frontier Communications Ticket Office.
The Bulls welcome the Columbus Clippers to the DBAP on Aug. 29 for the opener of a three-game series. Monday and Tuesday’s contests, both beginning at 7:05 p.m., are each presented by Mobil Super Tour. Prior to Monday’s contest, fans will have the opportunity to roam the DBAP playing field to play Pokémon GO from 6-6:30 p.m. The event is a follow-up from the team’s Pokémon GO event in mid-July, which raised $3,000 for Second Chance Pet Adoptions.
On Tuesday, Aug. 30 the Bulls will welcome Olympic swimming gold medalist and NC State junior Ryan Held, who will throw out that night’s ceremonial first pitch, and sign autographs and take pictures with fans from 7:15-7:45 p.m. At the Rio Olympics Held teamed up with Michael Phelps and two others to earn gold in the 4×100 meter freestyle relay, earning his first Olympic medal at age 21.
The homestand closes on Wednesday, Aug. 31 with the team’s inaugural Trucks, Beats & Brews event that will feature local food trucks, craft beer tents and a DJ. Gates will open at 5 p.m. for that evening’s 7:05 p.m. game, presented by WUNC, for a pregame party on the Diamond View concourse. The event will feature local food trucks American Meltdown, Cousins Maine Lobster, Baguettaboutit, Mac-Ur-Roni, Only Burger, 13th Taco and Locopops, while Lynwood Brewery, Brueprint Brewery, Wicked Weed, Starpoint, Hiwire, Oskar Blues, Bull City Cider and Olde Hickory will all be in attendance to feature their specialty drinks. Finally, DJ Shahzad will be DJing the event from 5-6:30 p.m., presented by RUNAWAY.
