Multi-platform discussion will have diverse panel and will include social media interaction
Capitol Broadcasting continues their ‘Fan Town Hall’ series with a panel that will tackle the question, ‘Do today’s African-American Athletes bear any responsibility to commenting on today’s social issues?’
Moderated by WRAL-TV Anchor/Reporter Gerald Owens and the seven panelists will discuss this provocative question tomorrow night, Tuesday, August 30, at 7pm for one hour. The panel will include: Sport Business Professor at the UNC-CH Dr. Deborah Stroman, Former ECU Head Football Coach Steve Logan, Former UNC and NBA Player George Lynch, Former NC State and NFL Player Brandan Bishop, 99.9 The Fan Afternoon Drive Host Adam Gold, Buzz Sports Radio Morning Drive Hosts Erroll Reese and Kevin McClendon. The social media desk and interaction with Twitter will be managed by 99.9 The Fan’s Afternoon Drive Host Joe Ovies.
Moderator Gerald Owens says, “As fans we cherish, even worship, our favorite athletes on the court or on the field. Rarely do we hear their personal beliefs on the big social issues facing our society. This forum will allow us to discuss that.”
The event will air with live video and audio on WRAL-2, 99.9 The Fan, WRALsportsfan.com and the WRALsportsfan App. You can also access the show via Roku, Amazon Fire and Apple TV with the new WRAL App.
Dennis Glasgow, Capitol Broadcasting sports radio operations manager, program director and executive producer for the Fan Town Hall series says, “This discussion is long overdue, and we have a diverse and opinionated panel to tackle this polarizing topic. I’m also excited that our viewers and listeners can participate with their feedback and commentary in real-time via Twitter”.
