Schoolkids Records and WUNC Help Develop Lineup Aimed to Celebrate
NC’s Favorite Bands + RMM’s 200th Anniversary
Rocky Mount Mills’ successful Mills Music Sessions returns in April with a new series of free concerts designed to bring the community together at Eastern North Carolina’s fast-emerging premier mixed-use destination.
The Mills, recognizing its 200th anniversary this year, is once again partnering with Schoolkids Records and WUNC-FM to book an eclectic lineup of perennial favorites including Nantucket, Dillon Fence, John Howe & Rosewood Bluff/Magnolia Collective; and bringing back a couple favorites, An All-Star Music Maker Blues Revue and The Connells!
The concert experience will be open to the public and family friendly. Concerts will take place on the Mills’ scenic lawn — the better to enjoy the campus and historic sights, including the iconic Battle House. Bring a lawn chair, pick up dinner from one of the restaurants or food trucks on campus and enjoy an evening of music and community fun.
Full Line-up
“Rocky Mount has changed so much from when I grew up here in the 80s and 90s. There is a renewed spark and vitality reminiscent of the renaissances we’ve seen in the Triangle.” – Stephen Judge, owner, Schoolkids Records
“If you look at where we were for last year’s concert series to where we are today, the campus is almost unrecognizable. More restaurants, more breweries, corporate tenants signed on. The momentum at Rocky Mount Mills keeps on speeding along.” – Evan Covington Chavez, development manager, Rocky Mount Mills
“We’ve seen a tremendous response for the Mill Music Sessions series from fans across our listening area. This is quickly becoming the go-to regular music series for folks from across eastern NC and the Triangle.” – David Brower, program director, North Carolina Public Radio WUNC
