The annual WRAL Voters’ Choice Awards event will be held as a virtual event on Jan. 14 at 7:30 p.m. Hosted by WRAL’s Mikaya Thurmond and Kat Campbell, the winners in more than 100 categories will be announced during the livestream.
Finalists and anyone who wishes to watch the awards are encouraged to register now to attend the free virtual event.
In its sixth year, the WRAL audience nominated the best in local businesses, community, education, food and drink, home and finance, medical and professional and entertainment from Sept. 14 through Oct. 11. On Oct. 19, the top five finalists in each category were announced and voting ended Nov. 22.
“While we anticipated the excitement of our in-person event as we have in years past, I’m excited to be back hosting the VCAs for the fourth year and shine the spotlight on local businesses,” Thurmond said. “We hope our finalists will share their at-home celebrations with us.”
Thurmond will be joined in hosting duties by WRAL meteorologist Kat Campbell.
“I’m honored to be joining Mikaya as a host of the Voters’ Choice Awards, and I can’t wait to see who our audience selected as the best of local…especially the pet categories!” Campbell said.
More than 5,000 businesses were nominated, and nearly 135,000 votes were cast. See the finalists
After the virtual event, winners will be encouraged to post a photo or a video to their social media accounts using the hashtag #WRALVCAs. More details will be shared in early January about how finalists can claim their WRAL Voters’ Choice Awards window clings and winners can pick up their certificates.
