The 2011 WRAL-TV Raleigh Christmas Parade did not disappoint as thousands packed the streets of downtown to see their hometown Idol hero, marching bands, a few Christmas nay-sayers and the man in red himself. Not even the Grinch and Scrooge could dampen spirits as parade goers and WRAL viewers watching at home enjoyed the festivities.
Over 110 entries, including floats featuring personalities from MIX 101.5 and WRAL-FM, took part in the parade on Saturday, November 19th. WRAL broadcast the parade live with Morning News Anchors Bill Leslie & Kelcey Carlson commentating the action. WRAL-TV Traffic Reporter Brian Shrader brought live interviews from the street. And American Idol winner Garner’s very own Scotty McCreery joined Carlson & Leslie on the scaffolding for a bit after his ride down the parade route.
