Every week in 2010, FOX 50 posts a different “Top Ten” list about…well almost anything. The think tank at FOX 50 comes up with the items on the list. Check out what the gang thinks of their fellow CBC division, American Tobacco:
TOP 10 reasons to check out American Tobacco
#1. “The New Face of Cancer Care” Photo Exhibit (Strickland lobby)- celebrate portraits of cancer survivors and care providers from across North Carolina, Now thru August 8 (9 a.m. – 6 p.m). The portraits are the work of three renowned North Carolina photographers: Tamara Lackey, Rachel Garrison and Neil Boyd. You can preview the portraits and stories and share your own at visit: http://www.newfaceofcancercare.org
#2. Music On the Lawn FREE Concert Series- Enjoy live music at the American tobacco amphitheater on select Fridays starting at 6pm. It’s free and guarantees to have your feet tappin’! Click here for a list of dates and performances: www.americantobaccohistoricdistrict.com
#3. Durham Bulls- So your peanuts and Cracker Jacks may have been replaced with Nachos and Beer, but a day at the ball park is always better than a day at the office (sorry FOX 50 but it’s true!). As a bonus you get to watch one of the most successful Teams in the last couple of years! http://www.durhambulls.com/
#4. Durham Performing Arts Center- If you’re in to great concerts, hit Musicals, and other great performance art then check out the DPAC. Follow the link for all the great events.

#5. The Restaurants- Whether you’re tastes are more traditional or you’re in the mood for something unique, the restaurants at ATC will have you coming back for more. Here is a list of the various eateries at the American Tobacco campus:

#6. The “Lazy River” – Nothing is more relaxing that watching a water flowing down an man made river on a nice summer day…(just don’t dive in!)
#7. Pops for Pops – Pops for Pops, a Father’s Day Tradition at American Tobacco on the Lawn . The concert featured the Durham Jazz Orchestra and the Durham Community Concert Band playing marches, show tunes, classical, jazz and contemporary favorites!
#8. The Campus – The transition from an old warehouse district to a thriving must-see destination is truly remarkable. The combination of updated remodeling and classic nostalgic look (like the Lucky Strike tower) makes ATC a great place to just soak in a walk around.
#9. Events- ATC hosts a number of events like the above mentioned pops for pops, The Duck Race, and the FOX 50 Family Fest. Visit their website to keep up with the lastest events and happenings. http://www.americantobaccohistoricdistrict.com/events-and-exhibits.html
#10. ATC Bay 7 – Bay 7 is a popular meeting, event and wedding venue. It has a unique look with exposed brick walls, hardwood floors, a balcony area and water feature. It’s a great place to hold an event (and it sure beats the local fire hall!).
