999_espn_logoOn October 10, 2007 the sports format premiered at 3 p.m. known as “99.9 The Fan.“ Since moving to the Triangle, WCMC had broadcast from an antenna located 485 feet above ground level located 3 miles northwest of Youngsville. The short tower and relatively low power resulted in the station providing only grade B coverage to Chapel Hill, Garner, Cary and most of Durham. However, in 2010 WCMC was granted permission to move its city of license to Holly Springs and boost its power to 26,500 watts.

On December 1, 2008 WCMC gained its affiliation with ESPN Radio. On November 1, 2009 Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. launched 620 The Buzz WDNC-AM. Shortly after it The Buzz was launched, the division also launched 1550 Deportes WCLY-AM.

In April 2012, the sports radio division created 99.9 The Ticket WRAL-HD3 which can be heard on HD radios and online via the stream.  The Ticket later expanded to 1550 AM, and then in February 2017, The Ticket got a presence on the FM dial, rebranding as 95.7 The Ticket.

Then in April 2018, CBC Sports Radio shuffled the stations to make way for a new music station on 95.7.  WCMC-FM 99.9 the Fan had no changes, but The Buzz began airing exclusively on 99.3 FM and 96.5FM while the WCLY The Ticket programming moved to WDNC 620AM, breaking away from the previous 99.3/96.5/620 configuration.  The new arrangement made way for a new, unique music format, with the launch of 95.7FM.
