On Monday, March 30, 2009, TV viewers in the Raleigh-Durham market woke up to a new local movie channel called “THIS”.
THIS is home to blockbuster and Academy award-winning moves from some of Hollywood’s biggest studios including: MGM, United Artists, Orion Pictures, Polygram, Cannon and Samuel Goldwyn Films.
THIS is available now on WRAZ-DT2 which can be seen free over-the-air on Channel 50.3 and on Digital Cable Channel 252.
“Along with FOX 50 and our other digital service the Retro Television Network, we can now offer our local viewers a “Triple Free Viewers Choice, “ said Tommy Schenck, VP & GM of WRAZ. “Along with the top-rated entertainment and sports programming from FOX and the classic television programs on RTN, we will be offering great movies from some of the biggest studios, for free. Digital technology allows us to deliver even more programming options to our viewers and our advertisers.”
“We’re excited and thrilled with our new partnership with Capitol Broadcasting and THIS,” said David Chavez, Director of SE Division of MGM Television. “They have been at the forefront of the digital television revolution, and they are a perfect fit for our network. The Raleigh-Durham TV viewers are really in for a treat!”
THIS will cover over 23 counties in the heart of North Carolina and will be operated out of the same Diamond View studios where FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV) broadcasts.
“Not only are we excited to give our local viewers more choices, but we can offer quality TV for free, which certainly comes in handy in the economy we’re currently in,” Schenck said.
