Capitolnets Basketball Team Off to a Good Start |
Capitol Broadcasting is sponsoring two AAU youth basketball teams this season. One of the teams, the Capitolnets, is coached by Capitol Networks sportscaster Eddie Thomas. Season play began in March and his team has already won two tournaments.
The two teams will host an invitation tournament “The Capitol Classic” June 13-15 in Reynolds Coliseum at North Carolina State University. Over 40 teams will participate bringing more than 500 people to Raleigh for the weekend.
Coach Eddie Thomas was recently recognized for his commitment to youth basketball at the Carolina Athlete of the Year Awards Banquet in Charlotte. He was praised for his “important contributions to athletics in the Carolinas” including his high school scoreboard program on the North Carolina News Network and for his 20 years as a youth basketball volunteer coach.
