Jim Goodmon Receives CASL President’s Award
The Capitol Area Soccer League (CASL), considered one the largest private youth soccer leagues in the US with over 12,000 players on 800 teams, awarded Jim Goodmon, President and CEO of CBC, its President’s Award. This award is presented by the CASL Board of Directors to individuals that have demonstrated outstanding service and made significant contributions to CASL and the youth they serve.
Over 1,000 CASL coaches and other members attended the Spring 1998 Coaches’ Extravaganza held at the Raleigh Convention Center on Thursday, February 19. This event included exhibitors, clinics, meetings, and the CASL Annual General Meeting, during which awards were presented to volunteers, coaches of the year, departing board members, and four special President’s Award recipients.
Jim Goodmon was selected to receive this award on the basis of his generosity and support of CASL since its inception in 1974. Bill Wynne, CASL’s Executive Director, says, “Mr. Goodmon is responsible for the majority of kids in our community who play soccer, with his generosity and foresight in donating the WRAL Soccer Center. His continued generosity in regards to facilities has enabled us to expand field development as well as instructional programs.”
CASL Board of Directors President Bob Bode, who presented the award to Goodmon, stated that he was delighted to give him the award before so many CASL members.
