Dan Wilkinson: Grand Marshal for the Blooming Festival |
Dan Wilkinson, agricultural reporter for Capitol AgriBusiness, was the Grand Marshal for the third annual Blooming Festival. Held in Nashville, North Carolina on May 7 and 8, the Blooming Festival celebrated Spring by showcasing the trees and flowers that are blooming throughout the area.
Wilkinson was chosen to be the 1999 Grand Marshal for his agricultural expertise, his name recognition and his ties to the area: he is a Rocky Mount native. Dan was quoted as saying, “I really like doing assignments with farmers involved in horticulture or nurseries. I learn a great deal about the business and new and exciting plants as well as enjoying the people in the business, who seem to be very friendly and warm.” Wilkinson is very proud that he was asked to be the Grand Marshal, and said from the heart, “I love the people of the state. The favorite part of my job is getting out on farms and meeting and sharing with the people.”
Wilkinson would like to invite everyone out to next year’s festival in Nashville, NC. Not only was the scenery beautiful, but the weekend was full of fun, music, entertainment, and social togetherness.
