CBC President & CEO Jim Goodmon received the Citizen of the Year award from the Raleigh Alumni Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Several CBC employees were on hand to present the award.

FOX 50 Promotion Editor Pete Peebles, FOX 50 Station Manager Paul Pope, and WRAL-TV Production Manager David Gill attended the presentation along with Past KAPPA President Reggie Wright and current KAPPA Vice President Pat Gilliard. Pope, Gill and Peebles were particularly honored to have Goodmon selected

because the nomination originated from members not associated with CBC. The award is given to the outstanding citizen that has provided leadership and service to the community. Goodmon is the first non-minority to receive this honor.

Established nationally in 1911, Kappa Alpha Psi founded its local chapter in 1948. CBC is a big supporter of the their academic programs. The KAPPA Beautillion Program has given over $30,000 in college scholarships to young men. The Raleigh KAPPA Chapter also hosts an annual banquet for all of the African American juniors and seniors in Wake County with a 3.0 average and above.
