WRAL-TV Launches “Fight Breast Cancer” |
“Our campaign is about educating women and supporting community fundraising efforts for breast cancer research to help eradicate this life-threatening disease.”
— WRAL-TV Station Manager Jim Griffin
WRAL-TV is joining the fight against breast cancer. An aggressive campaign to help educate women, inform viewers and help raise funds for research, “Fight Breast Cancer” launches today, May 15th with WRAL-TV’s 5pm news.
The six-month campaign will attack the disease on all fronts. News stories about breast cancer survivors, their families and the disease itself will air along with public service announcements and sponsored vignettes. WRAL.com has created a monthly email service to remind women to give themselves monthly breast exams. The station is also participating in local fundraising events such as the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides” and NC Triangle Race for the Cure (an affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation) to further the search for a cure.
WRAL-TV Station Manager Jim Griffin said, “Because breast cancer poses such a serious health threat to women in our community, the station feels a special responsibility for increasing awareness and promoting the importance of early detection in our fight against breast cancer.”
“Fight Breast Cancer” is a joint venture between WRAL-TV, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and Rex Healthcare.
