CBC Now Has Live Presence at ESA

Capitol Broadcasting Company, in partnership with the Carolina Hurricanes, launched the new FOX50 Sports Suite at the Raleigh Entertainment & Sports Arena (ESA) in October. FOX50 upfitted one of ESA’s new luxury suites to accommodate live FOX50 sportscasts and other live shots for both FOX50 and WRAL-TV.

Raleigh’s Entertainment & Sports Arena now includes a luxury suite upfitted for live shots for FOX50 & WRAL-TV.

The stations will use the suite for live shots for newscasts during Hurricanes, Wolfpack and other sporting events throughout the year. The suite will also be used for live shots during concerts and other entertainment events, including after-game and after-event interviews with sports personalities and performers.

“I am thrilled about this CBC suite,” said WRAL-TV News Director Andrea Parquet-Taylor. “We’re on site at the ESA during events and can quickly feedback our video of what’s happening at the arena in a manner that’s efficient for us. Quicker action as it happens allows us to be able to serve the viewers better.”

The suite is unique; CBC is the only broadcast company to have a suite in the ESA. Parquet-Taylor said the company’s presence in the arena, “speaks to CBC’s

FOX50 & WRAL-TV newscasters will be able to report live from inside the arena.

commitment to local and commitment to always wanting to be a strong partner in our coverage of local events.”

FOX50 and WRAL-TV engineering crews installed equipment in the suite, including a fixed microwave link that allows live broadcasting from the arena without using a live van. The suite has also been upfitted with a camera, video and audio switching equipment and studio lighting.
