FOX 50 To Broadcast The Light Up Durham Holiday Parade Special
DURHAM – Once again FOX 50 will broadcast The Light Up Durham Holiday Parade Special – a one-hour program featuring many of the 117 floats, bands, and organizations which took part in the Light Up Durham Holiday Parade on Saturday, December 1, 2001.
The theme of Light Up Durham 2001 and the Holiday Parade was “Together, We Grow Stronger,” and organizers dedicated the day’s activities to the Durham city and county law enforcement, fire fighters and emergency service officials.
The Holiday Parade began on Mangum Street in Durham and then made its way through the heart of downtown along Morgan and Morris streets before ending at the historic Durham Athletic Park.
FOX 50 News anchors Lynda Loveland and Ken Smith will co-host the Parade Special, with FOX 50 Weatherman Leon Smitherman reporting from the streets. The one-hour special was produced by WRAL-TV’s Randy Mews, directed by WRAL-TV’s Chris Bolanz, and edited by FOX 50’s Scott Reid.
The Light Up Durham Holiday Parade Special will be broadcast on Saturday, December 8 at 3pm, and again on Christmas Day, December 25 at 11am. This year’s Parade Special is sponsored by The Streets at Southpoint, The Durham Bulls, Central Carolina Bank, The City of Durham, and Subway.
