Bulls Bring Back Baseball Hall of Famer Joe Morgan |

The Durham Bulls will be honoring a special guest at the ballpark on Friday, August 9, 2002. Hall of Famer and former Bulls player Joe Morgan will have his #18 Bulls jersey retired in a post-game ceremony.
A former second baseman, Morgan played for the Bulls in 1963. In that season he batted .332 with 13 home runs and 39 RBI in 95 games. He is the only Durham Bull ever inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
He went on to play 22 Major League seasons with a .271 batting average including 268 home runs and 1133 runs batted in. He was the two-time National League MVP and won five gold gloves, played in four world series and won two world championships. Morgan received induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1990.
The Bulls will present a gift to Morgan as his jersey is retired, and he will address the crowd for a few minutes before the Friday fireworks display. He will also be on hand to sign autographs between 5:45 – 6:45pm on the concourse. Season ticket holders will be admitted at 5:30pm; the gates will open to the rest of the fans at 6:00pm.
The Bulls take on the Richmond Braves that evening at 7:00pm.
