WRAL-TV Partners With N&O For “Headline Sunday”

Headline SundayWRAL-TV and the News & Observer have joined forces to produce a new weekly news program “Headline Sunday.” The half-hour program debuted on Sunday, October 6, 2002, at 10:30am, and features WRAL Anchor David Crabtree and N&O Executive Editor Melanie Sill.

Both Crabtree and Sill pose questions to the guests slated each week. WRAL and the N&O work together to develop topics and find guests. The program airs at 10:30am Sundays.

The first program focused on the police chase of several weeks ago and how law enforcement agencies handled it. Crabtree and Sill talked to representatives from NC Highway Patrol and Raleigh Police Department. They also discussed the role that SKY5 played in our coverage and how the helicopter footage even helped law officers to keep up with the incident. Sky5 Pilot Steve Wiley joined the guests during the second half of our program.

“Headline Sunday” is the latest in a series of partnerships between the broadcast and print media entities. Both are producing headlines and “talkbacks” each week for the WRAL-TV newscasts.
