WRAL-FM Recognized For Rewarding Teachers |
WRAL-FM’s effort to honor local teachers has earned special recognition from Applebee’s restaurants. WRAL-FM/MIX 101.5 and Adstreet received a nod for their version of the Applebee’s Teacher of the Year promotion at the Applebee’s convention on Friday, August 1, 2003.
Each year, Applebee’s corporate chooses promotions to be presented at the national convention in August. Over 20 radio stations, which work with Adstreet, submitted their promotions and WRAL-FM’s Teacher of the Year promotion was the only one chosen by Applebee’s Corporate. Nationwide, Applebee’s Corporate chose four promotions to be presented at the annual convention during the first week of August.
“Applebee’s looks for effective community/school related promotions in addition to the standard promotions such as gift certificate giveaways,” said WRAL-FM Account Executive Kirk Kirkland. “This is a great example of a community/education tie in that worked well for Applebee’s plus we had a tremendous response from our listeners.”
For four weeks in April and May, WRAL-FM asked listeners to nominate their teachers for the Applebee’s Annual Teacher of the Year Award via www.wralfm.com. One area teacher was selected from an elementary school, a middle school and a from high school. The three winners received a plaque and dinner for six at a local Applebee’s location.
After receiving close to 300 nominations, WRAL-FM selected winners Wanda Lee of Four Oaks Elementary School, Sheryl Stringer from Zebulon Middle School and Bianca Stumpf from Lee County Senior High School.
