FOX50 Brings High Definition Television Home |
When the NFL season kicked off on September 12, 2004, the FOX Network kicked-off a new page in it’s history with the arrival of High Definition (HD) broadcasting in the 720p format and 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound.
HD sports on FOX 50 will include the Major League Baseball playoffs and World Series, weekly NFL games, the NFC Championship game, Super Bowl XXXIX, the Daytona 500 and the entire 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series.
In addition to sports, FOX 50 will broadcast many of the new seasons primetime shows in HD as well. These include 24, Malcolm in the Middle, Bernie Mac, Quintuplets, House, North Shore, The Rebel Billionaire, Emmy Award winning Arrested Development and others.
HD on FOX 50 first became a reality over two years ago, when FOX 50 Digital began broadcasting WRAL’s 10:00pm and 7:00am News in HD. This made FOX 50 the first FOX affilliate in the nation to present local news in HD.
High Definition sports, entertainment programming and news: another milestone for FOX 50 and Capitol Broadcasting Company.
Thank you to FOX50’s Kevin Kolbe for this capcom story.
